5 Reasons to Vote Trump - The New York Times

Before the election, the NY Times had an article on 5 reasons to vote for Trump. What follows is my response , and although tongue-in-cheek, I assume that some of this will play out as described... Five reasons: He'd let loose the Republican hounds of hell, dreams of misogyny, anti-semitism, ignorance, greed, and aggression He'd destroy enforcement for laws governing the environment, health and welfare, business and banking, tax evasion, etc., that would harm minorities and the working class... He'd be a great source of daily inane tirades reported as news, because he said it, and who knows, he might do it... Because he'll extend the genre of comedy-horror. Comedy will both proliferate - psychopath in chief - as well as get scary, because he actually might do what he says. Because you like the Trump logo, would love to have it plastered everywhere, and having a self-dealing, corrupt leader would empower your own greed and corruption...

Some Thoughts on the Effect of Trump

I think this is pretty straightforward, as these are the typical agenda items to conservatives, items that are likely to change under Trump, considering Republican control of Congress, and now that some sensible things that would have been done by Democrats would be usurped, like deficit and infrastructure spending: Reduced regulation and oversight of finance, health care Reduced oversight of the business environment and monopoly control Reduced tax collection and oversight Increased spending for defense Reduced social welfare spending Reduced oversight and intervention in bias-related areas Pullback from climate agreements and initiatives My general feeling is that the Republican regime will be good for business in the short-term, but bad for people in both the short and long term: Stock market exuberance, but increased risk of market crashes and bubbles Deficits, with corresponding cuts to social welfare to compensate Increase in inflation, which can have positive ef
